Biography
Araxie Altounian holds a Médaille d'or in piano performance from the
Conservatoire Régional de Val Maubuŕ in France, and a Ph D in Musicology from the
Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik, Lebanon.
With over 26 years of teaching experience, she presently maintains an active piano studio in Thornhill where she has been living since 1992, and is also a faculty member at Euromusic Centre for Music Studies in Markham.
Ms Altounian has held an active role in her community. A past member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association, she has twice served as president of the North York-York Region Branch, as well as coordinator of the Toronto Zone competitions. Since 2003 she has been serving as Music Director of the Markham Music Festival. Ms Altounian has been active as a lecturer as well as a pianist, in Lebanon and in Canada. She has several published articles and a book to her credit. She has also given workshops for music teachers. |
